Personal Kit Clothing A couple changes of clothing - Rain gear - at least a poncho - Hat socks and more socks - t shirts - underwear capilene uppers and lowers (polypropylene - cotton kills) hiking boots - sneakers Food and Water Three day supply of food and water (4 liters per day = 12 liters or 3 gallons) Water purification tablets or filter Canned fruit - canned meat - vegetables Canned juices - milk - soup (if powdered add more water to list) Sugar - salt - cayenne pepper - habanero pepper Peanut butter - jelly - crackers - Gorp - powerbar - granola - hard candy - cookies vitamins Hygiene towel - wash cloth - soap - shampoo - razor tooth brush - hair brush - tooth paste - dental floss toilet paper - paper towels - foot powder - moleskin needle - thread - buttons - rubber bands

More kit… Miscellaneous Canteen - or water jugs Eye and ear protection Flashlight - spare batteries - folding knife - accessories Matches - waxed or in case money (change) - watch mess kit - knife - fork - spoon Mosquito netting - Sleeping bag zip lock bags of various sizes - garbage bags reading material - chess set - scrabble - cards - etc First Aid sterile adhesive bandages safety pins of various sizes disinfecting soap latex gloves (a couple pairs) gauze pads - 2 inch and 4 inch (4 to 6 each) adhesive tape - roll scissors - tweezers - antiseptic - neosporin antacid - syrup of ipecac - laxative chapstick - aspirin - benadryl Any personal medications - spare set of glasses - contacts (fluids) Sunblock - SPF 20 - 60 (depending on locality) Insect repellent - DEET (di ethyl toluamide ) - 20 to 98 % (depending on locality)

Equipment Choices Test EVERYTHING! In an emergency, unreliable equipment is useless Don’t just test once, test regularly Setup a regular schedule to use everything Test individual elements, but also test everything together Try out the whole kit when it’s not an emergency
