8. 1. Romulus Romulus was the legendary founder of Rome. The Sabine king, Tatius, co-ruled with Romulus from the time of the rape of the Sabine women until his death. 2. Numa Pompilius Numa Pompilius is credited with many of the ancient religious rituals of ancient Rome. 3. Tullus Hostilius Tullus Hostilius doubled the population of Rome. He was a warrior who defeated the Albans and Sabines in battle. 4. Ancus Martius Ancus Marcius was a grandson of Numa Pompilius and a bridge builder. The bridge across the Tiber is credited to Ancus Marcius. 5. Lucius Tarquinius Priscus First Etruscan king of Rome. Tarquin created 100 new senators and expanded Rome. He also planned out the Circus Maximus and established the Roman games. 6. Servius Tullius Servius Tullius was the son-in-law of Tarquinius Priscus. He divided the Roman citizens into tribes and went to war against the Veii. He set up a tax system taking only what people could afford. 7. Tarquinius Superbus (Tarquin the Proud) The wicked Tarquinius Superbus was the last Etruscan or any king of Rome. He was forcibly ousted by Brutus after his son Sextus raped Lucretia (wife of an important Roman). Kings of Rome
