Regional Task Force on DRR and Education of Asia and the Pacific Education Task Force (ETF), initiated and led by the UN/ISDR, UNESCO and UNICEF in January 2007 as a steering committee for the organization of the Asia Pacific Regional Workshop on Disaster Risk Reduction and School Education (8-10 October 2007, Bangkok). Additional membership of key regional partners such as UNESCAP, UNCRD, ADPC, ADRC, IFRC, ASEAN, Save the Children and ASB. The ETF has developed into a more formal regional mechanism newly called the Regional Task Force on Disaster Risk Reduction and Education.

Main objective is to enhance coordination to promote and implement effectively DRR Education, including school safety initiative, along the lines of the Bangkok Action Agenda on DRR Education - that was adopted at the 2007 regional workshop as a regional blueprint for DRR Education implementation - and other valuable tools developed in the Asia pacific region (RCC guidelines on mainstreaming DRR into Education, Ahmedabad declaration and others) As a follow-up to the adoption of the Bangkok Action Agenda, the RTF/DRRE has undertaken an informal mapping out of DRR Education activities throughout the Asia Pacific region, starting with the work carried out by RTF/DRRE members. This informal report was an contribution to the Global Assessment Report exercise.
