Waimarino Beware By Deanna Rhind

Brown grass, dead plants and sun burnt skin. The perfect days of summer where Waimarino comes in handy. I walk on the burning stones it felt like I was walking on a BBQ. We all put our gear down by a table. I ran to the changing rooms. Its as dark as a crickets skin. I grab my togs and slop them on. I sprint back wishing I was in the water. I'm back at the table. I dropped my tog bag that has my clothes in. We walk to the blob and throw our life jackets and helmets on. Should I jump? Turn to page3. Should I go on the Kayaks? Turn to page5. Page 1

Oh No! I don’t want to do this. There’s no turning back now. Wow, It’s about ten meters high where I jump from. I close my eyes and fall like a bird that has just been shot. Yes I'm on the blob. I crawl to the end of the blob. Out of no where I've been tossed up into the air. Crash!! The freezing water hits me. My life jackets stuck on a plank of wood. I try swimming towards the surface. Its only making it tighter. I try screaming but no one can hear me. I stop trying and my eyes started to fade. A man jump in and undoes my life jacket and brings me up to the surface. Its too late my luges are full of water. The End. Page 3

Slipping on a life jacket and grabbing a kayak and a paddle. I push the kayak into the water. I start paddling out. I'm burning hot I need to get in the. I just went passed the five knots sign. I see a little orange thin in the distance. I paddle closer and closer until I see that it is an empty kayak. The current is getting stronger and stronger as I slowly drift out. Should I go and see the empty kayak out in the current? Turn to page 18 Should I go back? Turn to page 10. Page 5

As the current gets stronger my arms get weaker. I’m closer to the empty kayak. I see bubbles floating up to the surface. I paddle to the side of the bank and jump out. I take my life jacket off and dive down where I saw the bubbles. As I was under the water something hits my leg. I come out of the water to take a gulp of air. I saw a sign it said crocodiles beware. AWWWWWW!! I swim back as fast as I can but it’s to late. Blood floats up and I stop. I try swimming with my arms with the strength I still have left. I manage to get to the side of the bank. I look down and see that my legs have been ripped off by crocodiles. I fall back and suffer. things start to go dark…….. The End Page 18

I'm turning back as I'm wondering what the empty kayak is. “Um” excuse me, there is a empty kayak in the water over there” I yell. “Ok, I’ll go and get it.” the instructor exclaimed. “Ok thanks,” I babbled. I think that it’s best that I tolled the instructor about it. I think that I should just go for a swim now. I jump into the freezing water again. I float along the water like a drifting boat. I see the kayak slide, that can also be used as a hydro slide. It looks amazing. I climb out of the water and heads towards it. I grab a mat and wait at the end of the line. “Yeah it’s my turn”, and I can’t wait. Here I go, putting my mat down on the slide. I sit on it and push with my feet. ZOOM!! “AWWW” I screamed out loud. Boom! I hit the water on my stomach. I breath heavily and fast like I’ve just ran the cross country track. I climb out and fall to the ground trying to get my breath back. I stand up and walk slowly to the table. I sit down. I have my breath back now. Maybe I should have just gone for a swim instead? The End Page 10
