The ‘evolution’ of Canada Task 1 - Timeline Chart Skim read Chapter 7 of our text and create a chart on the back of your small map showing the dates when the various provinces and territories joined Canada. *Remember, at the time of Confederation in 1867, Canada was made up of just four provinces. Canada grew in size/territory from that time. Task 2 - Mapping the ‘evolution’ of Canada Use the two blank maps provided to show Canada’s growth from Confederation to the country we have today. Map #1 – (small map) showing Canada in 1867 Pre-Confederation Map #2 – (Large map) showing Canada today. Be sure to use your map rules, be conscious of neatness/readability, and clearly communicate the theme intended. Include the following on your map: - Provinces - Territories -Capital city for each -- Capital city of Canada - * the date that each province/territory joined confederation - major bodies of water

Assessment 4321 Outcome SCO 3.4 examine the political structure of Canada as a result of Confederation 1. Chart showing provinces/territory and dates 2. Map(s) - complete - includes all labels asked for - consider readability of map (Use MAP Rules provided!) - consider overall neatness, colour, visual, aesthetics - evidence of the theme (the ‘evolution’ of canada) is clearly communicated (by evolution we mean how Canada grew from the original four provinces in 1867 to the country that exists today.) To get a 4: - follows map rules - complete - includes all labels asked for - shows pride in work/finished product - readability of map - overall neatness, colour, visual, aesthetics
