☛ Established a platform for information sharing and cooperation ☛ Facilitated networking of value chain stakeholders ☛ Preparing research and documentation for advocacy on issues relating to common external tariffs (CET) on rice. ☛ Conducted base-line market surveys in Dar es Salaam (DSM) ☛ Collating available production and trade data on rice in Tanzania and the East African region. Draft Strategic Plan Objectives ☛ To become THE service and information provider to the Rice Industry of Tanzania ☛ To develop greater trust amongst value chain actors and garner 100% private sector ownership and support ☛ To become THE trusted private sector partner representation towards the Government of Tanzania ☛ To take a lead role in formulating communication strategies for the rice sector development ☛ To support the GoT in implementing its agricultural priority – Big Results Now

Example Draft Work Plan Output 3 The Rice Council of Tanzania has developed significant trust amongst private sector VC actors and is fully supported by the private sector of the Rice Industry in Tanzania Activities 1 Conduct and facilitate regular monthly RCT board meetings prepare and circulate minutes 2 Conduct AGM of RCT 3 Maintain profile database of Council and Board Members 4 Develop private sector ownership and commitment to the RCT 5 Develop and circulate RCT monthly newsletters 6 Develop topical papers on relevant industry issues
