8 The literal meaning is what the words mean put together, but with idioms this does not work.

9 Remember Amelia Bedelia? She took everything literally.

10 Look for clues in the sentence.

11 Can you guess these idioms?

12 Raining cats and dogs means it is raining really hard. If you have ants in your pants, you have a hard time being still or are really anxious about something.

13 Spelling the word “flower” is a piece of cake, but spelling “chrysanthemum” is not.
