Orcas By Antonio Morales
2
I have been studying about the orca. I have been studying the orcas physical description, habitat, defense, prey, and finally its predators.
3
Physical Description
4
Habitat Do you know where an orca lives? The orca lives in the ocean. Things you will see in the orcas habitat are other creatures and plants. The orca can survive here because it has a thick layer of blubber. The oceans where the orca can be found are the Pacific ocean and the Atlantic ocean.
5
Defense Did you know orcas use echo-location? One way the orca protects itself is by out smarting predators. Another detail about the orca defense is echo- location. Orcas use echo-location to talk to other orcas if needed help.
6
Prey Slurp! There goes the cod into the orcas stomach. One of the fish that the orca eats is the cod. They are able to swallow them whole. Orcas also eat marine mammals like a seal. They can find seals on a ice burg having a nap. Orcas also eat squid but they don’t like them very much. Sometimes they even attack sharks like the great white shark. Slurp! Predators Bang, bang, bang! There goes bullets in the orcas body from its predator. Boats are predators to the orca because of their propellers. Propellers cut into the orcas body. Pollution is bad for the orca and other animals. The pollution makes the orca sick and sometimes even die because it makes their habitat really bad. Also, people can hunt orcas for their blubber. The sun could be a predator because if the orca gets marooned on shore the sun could dry up its skin and make the orca thirsty and then die. Bang, bang, bang! Interesting facts Wow orcas have interesting facts! When an orca jumps into the air it helps loosen skin parasites. Male orcas are known to attack great white sharks. Male and females dorsal fin are different. The males dorsal fin is taller and bigger a females dorsal fin is smaller and skinnier and curved to the right. Wow orcas have interesting facts!
