PROBLEM STATEMENT In South Carolina alone, approximately 744,000 people enjoy fishing for recreational purposes. One of the largest issues anglers experience is where and how to store their fishing equipment. They need to accomplish this task without tangling their lines or damaging their rods. This problem people experience occurs for however long they are fishing, resulting in frustration. "U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service | Southeast Region." EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The design we will fabricate contains the use of a wooden packaging to store the rods. Allowing for mobile use with the imitation of rolling backpack innovation in order to easily drag a large quantity of fishing rods without damaging or tangling them. With a cheap overall price, our design will allow for the safe and efficient carrying of fishing rods and provide extra space for fishing rod accessories.
4
PERFORMANCE BENCHMARKS Our design will be successful when we can safely transport fishing rods in a convenient way. These bullets represent goals we wish to accomplish: Fishing Rods stored safely. Easy to transport design. Cheap and easily constructed. Customer satisfaction. Conserves space and easily stored.
5
MATH, SCIENCE, AND ENGINEERING CONCEPTS The Design must: Take up a certain amount of volume to accommodate the rods; while at the same time minimizing the volume. Contain materials necessary to protecting the rods. Efficiently designed wheels for transport. Be cost effective, and use no more materials than necessary to conserve cost.

EXPERT INPUTS AND NEEDS Professional fishermen complain about handling their fishing rods and how they get tangled up. We plan on presenting an expert fishermen our design to see his or her reaction. In addition to a professional fisherman, we need to contact a carpenter to see about the practicality of our wooden design. If we plan on using a different material, we will contact someone other than a carpenter. Lastly, someone who designs containers will be essential to contact for the aesthetic design of our product.

Past solutions have already created cases, however, these cases are for individual rods. Most fishermen work by using multiple rods; they need a design that can protect as many rods as possible without taking up much space. Here are pictures of already made designs. The ones in the top right hand, and bottom left hand corners are current common solutions. PAST AND PRESENT SOLUTIONS

MARKET RESEARCH Individuals that need fishing rod cases are in dire need of a product that will protect a large quantity of fishing rods at a cheap price. We conducted a survey that seemed to prove this fact, as individuals who completed it seemed delighted on our ideas.
