2. When comparing and ordering fractions, all fractions must have common denominators. To order these numbers, 1/3, 2/3, 5/6 and 2/6, these fractions all need a common denominator. With these numbers, the common denominator would be 6. Convert 1/3 and 2/3 to fractions with denominator or 6.

3. Once the denominators are the same, compare the numerators. The larger the numerator, the larger the fraction. Put the numbers in order from least to greatest.

4. Sometimes you may be asked to write a fraction between two numbers. Write a fraction between 1 ½ and 1 ¼. Write these fractions as improper fractions. Remember, multiply the denominator by the whole number and add the numerator. Keep the denominator the same.

5. Which number is greater? 1 ½ or 1 ¼ 2 1/6 or 2 1/3 1/5 or 7/9 8/7 or 9/6

6. Order these from least to greatest Convert to common denominators and order from smallest to biggest 2/3, 5/6, 1/3, 8/9, 5/9, 2/6 1 st, make all fractions have the same denominator, them, compare the numerators.

7. Order from least to greatest When you get a list of numbers that have some decimals in it, convert the decimal to a fraction, then convert to common denominators. 7/8, 9/8, 1 ¼, 0.75 Convert 0.75 to a fraction, then reduce the fraction and find the common denominator for all the fractions.

8. Find a fraction between these numbers.... Find a number between 5/7 and 6/7. Remember that you cannot have a decimal as a numerator so 5.5/7 is not a possible answer. Find a larger equivalent fraction. Now, find a fraction between 10/14 and 12/14. Answer would be 11/14.

9. Find the fraction between given fractions using equivalent fractions to find your answer. 7/9 and 8/9 10/11 and 9/11 12/20 and 13/20

10. Convert the following fractions to decimals to compare. 6/10, 3/5, 9/10, ½ Find the common denominator, convert to decimals, then compare. Once in decimal form, you can plot the numbers on a number line for benchmarks.
