Converting Fractions 2 3434 we have looked at converting FRACTIONS to DECIMALS. We can also show fractions as PERCENTAGES. PER CENT means OUT OF (per) 100 (cent) is 75 % (the symbol for PERCENT)
2
Converting Fractions 2 - PERCENTAGES To convert any FRACTION to a PERCENTAGE, first convert it to a DECIMAL. 3 10 is 0. 3 as a decimal
3
Converting Fractions 2 - PERCENTAGES With any decimal, it doesn’t matter how many zeroes we add to the numbers after the decimal point, as long as we write them after all the other numbers. 0. 3=0. 3 0 =0. 3 0 0 =0. 3 0 0 0 and so on
4
Converting Fractions 2 - PERCENTAGES For percent we only need 2 digits after the DECIMAL POINT. 0. 3=0. 3 0 multiply the number by 100 to get it to percentages Remember:to x 100 we move the digits 2 places to the left. 0. 3 0 x 100 = 30
5
Converting Fractions 2 - PERCENTAGES 0. 3=0. 3 0= 30 %
6
Converting Fractions 2 - PERCENTAGES 0. 7 3 = 73 % 0. 8 9= 89 % if there are more than 2 numbers after the DECIMAL POINT, we use the same rules. 0. 7 1 6 2= 71. 62 %
