6 th Grade Art FALL LEAVES IN WATERCOLOR
2
Leaves are little food factories! Cycle of the Leaf: Take water from the ground Take Carbon Dioxide from the air Sunlight: water + Carbon Dioxide= Oxygen and sugar Sugar becomes food for leaf, Oxygen becomes “food” for us! This cycle is called photosynthesis WHAT ARE LEAVES ALL ABOUT?
3
A chemical called chlorophyll helps photosynthesis happen This gives the leaves their green color in the summer! GREEN THUMB
4
In the autumn, the nights become longer so the leaves get less sunlight This slowly stops the creation of Chlorophyll The yellows, reds, and oranges then come out to shine! WHY DO LEAVES TURN COLORS IN THE FALL?
