Key components of G2—M3 and G5—M3 can be extended to all modules in all grades, and the balanced instruction and rigorous assessment evident in these exemplar modules can be used as a model in planning across the grades. The CCLS and the Instructional shifts call for us to think about instruction differently, carefully examining and adjusting use of mathematical models and pedagogical approaches.
