God wants us to have a good reputation, especially since we represent Christ. A Truth to Remember: Jesus is Lord

1. We will not want to gossip, slander or lie about others. Christians will guard their tongues Prov 19:5

2. We will not want to speak unlovingly about anyone, even if it is true. James 3:2-12

1. To speak the truth in love. Christians will use their tongues kindly Eph 4:15 2. To always say what is the BEST about others.

Contentment 9th & 10th Commandments: Truth: Using what you have in thanksgiving to God the Giver.

“You shall not covet” 9 th = inanimate 10 th = animate 1. covet Christians will not want to:

13 What is coveting? “Being unhappy because of what you don’t have.”

2. Selfishly trying to get what belongs to others. 1 Tim 6:6-8; 9-10 Selfish Greed Vs. Contented acquiring Christians will want to: 1. Be Content (Be so happy with what I have, I use it as best I can to God’s glory.)

2. Desire and seek after what pleases God.

Conclusion The Conclusion to the Commandments can be summarized by reviewing the Christian’s life of Justification and Sanctification, based on the following diagram:

(How does God judge me?)(How can I thank God?) Thru the Law: Thru the gospel: a sinner, sinful guilty; damned He guides me; Points the way sinless, righteous “Just-as-if-I’d” He empowers me; Energizes me for never sinned. “set apart” living. Gospel is the foundation of salvation!

What does God’s will require? 1. love Him above all 2. Love neighbor as ourselves. 3. Love in our thoughts, words and actions.

The Christian’s reaction? 1. Confess our sins and lostness. 2. See that we are justified by faith in Jesus. 3. Thanking God for salvation, we obey him.
