The Paralytic Miracle Jesus comes home to Capernaum According to Mark it had been “some days” since He had been home. Thus he had been gone a while teaching in Galilee. According to Matthew he came home in a boat crossing the Sea of Galilee after removing demons from two men. Jesus was asked to “leave” Ga-dar-enes.

The Paralytic Miracle Luke 5:17 “…and the power of the Lord was there in order for him to heal.” (LEB) Jesus was giving the Holy Spirit without measure (Jn 3:34) Considering it is the Holy Spirit that performs miracles we see the point Luke was making. The Holy Spirit was present with Jesus in order to heal those that came to Jesus.

A paralytic man’s friends seek Jesus out
The Paralytic Miracle A paralytic man’s friends seek Jesus out They try to get to Jesus through the door of the place Jesus was teaching. We are not sure where Jesus was teaching exactly. It could have been Peter’s house where Jesus lived. It could have been at someone else’s house. It could have been a public building like a synagogue though this is less likely. They could not get to Jesus so they go on the roof and tear through the roof. They lower their friend down to Jesus to be healed.

The Paralytic Miracle “a term derived from a Greek word meaning to injure the reputation of another. In the Bible it means showing contempt or a lack of reverence for God (Lev. 24:16; Mark 2:7) or something sacred (Matt. 26:65), including claiming for oneself divine attributes by word or deed (Mark 14:64; John 10:33).” Achtemeier, P. We “must” take every opportunity to correct error
The Paralytic Lesson We “must” take every opportunity to correct error This is, perhaps, one of the easiest and hardest things to do for every Christian. It is easy to do this to those we are not emotionally involved in or have strong ties to. It is hard to do this with those we are emotionally involved in and have strong ties to. This isn’t to suggest that we are to not correct error however because we must always do so.
