21 Mutual Aid Response Group (MARG) Introduction
A voluntary initiative on developing ‘mutual aid arrangement’ for effective emergency response Initiative of the Association of Industries in Industrial pockets; a forum to mutually help each other by sharing available resources to tackle emergencies This industry initiative is promoted by the DISH, which is the regulatory agency in Maharashtra under the Factories Act 1948 Proactive role in risk reduction, awareness and education

22 Objective To identify and utilise the available resources effectively to mitigate emergency effects Minimise loss of life, property and human suffering Support the industries Technical Expertise on Chemical Safety Fire Prevention and Control Medical Facilities Information sharing on Hazardous Chemicals

36 Mock drill of the on-site and off-site emergency
--Ensured that at least two on-site and one off-site mock drill are carried out in a year by every MAH factories. --Programme of mock drill of on-site and off-site emergency is given to all MAH factories in the beginning of the calendar year.. --Mock drills are attended by the Additional/Joint Director, Industrial Safety & Health (Regional Head), along with officers, Safety professional/experts and officers of all MAH factories. -- Observers are appointed for this mockdrill. After mock drill observations were discussed in detailed with top management. The lacunas were noted and are rectified in next mock drill.

44 Conclusion Mutual Aid Response Groups can effectively mobilize resources and play vital role to reduce consequences MARG activities have resulted into reduction in numbers of Accidents by approx. 30 % Diligent Mock Drills conducted under the guidance of MARG and DISH have improved the efficiency and effectiveness of preparedness and response Training and Awareness Campaigns with involvement of the society have helped the dissemination of “Emergency Preparedness Plan” at all levels
