School Website The school website can be viewed by going to http://www.jefferson.k12.ky.us/Schools/Elementary/Field/I ndex.html. The website contains the following pages: principal, about us, parents, students, staff, and calendar. In addition there are links to 24 educational websites, parent information on cyberbullying, and the acceptable use policy. http://www.jefferson.k12.ky.us/Schools/Elementary/Field/I ndex.html

Innovative Use of Technology 1.Interactive Websites: Each student can access the JCPS website to get to board approved educational websites. Each student can access activities folders arranged by grade level on our school server. Teachers link websites in these folders for their students to access.

Innovative Use of Technology 2.Computer Lab:Students access the lab once a week as part of their special area rotation. students may work on one of the many software programs such Successmaker, Study Island, Fast Forward, or websites located in the student activity folder to individualize instruction for each student. In addition, they receive instruction in a computer curriculum. The time in the lab allows students to reflect and clarify their conceptual understanding and creative processes.[MDL8][MDL8]

Innovative Use of Technology 3.SMART Boards and Projectors: 60 % of classrooms and each SPecial Education Room has one.Teachers create PowerPoint lessons, prezi presentations, and a variety of video based websites such as BrainPOP and YouTube to engage students in learning and increase student participation. They use projectors to display these content related lessons.

Innovative Use of Technology 4.Mobile Lap Top Cart:Teachers check these out from the computer lab.Teachers can sign up for them a week in advance. Language arts teachers use them frequently for writing pieces. Students may work individually or with partners. They are a great resource that allows teachers to meet students' diverse learning styles, working strategies, and abilities.[MDL9][MDL9]

Technology Needs Assessment I feel that we have a good amount of technology available to students to help engage them in learning. However, I have listed 4 items below that would help increase student engagement. 1.Clickers:We more sets of clickers, so that each classroom can have one. At this time the school shares one set. 2.Smart Boards: We need to purchase addition Smart Boards so that 100% of classrooms have one. This will ensure an equitable distribution of technology resources. 3.Increase use of technology by students. We currently use technology daily however many times this technology is provided by teacher use. We need to increase the opportunities for students to get technology on their hands.

Professional Development Needs Assessment In 2012-2013 school year, we will implemented the CIITS website, which stands for the Continuous Instructional Improvement Technology System. The CIITS program is aligned to standards which support highly effective teaching and learning in every classroom in Kentucky. Between now and the beginning of the 2012-2013 school year, another teacher and I will be attending three 3-hour training sessions on the CIITS program. She, along with two others that have attended the training, will be responsible for offering professional development on CIITS to the rest of the teachers. We will complete the CIITS training with our staff during PD days.

Technology Benchmarks All teachers to use e-mail to communicate with one another on a daily basis. ·All teachers to use e-mail to communicate with at least half of their students’parents by the end of the school year. ·All teachers to use Successmaker and Study Island data to drive instruction. ·All teachers to use the SMART Boards and projectors at least once per week.

Technology Benchmarks All teachers to use the CIITS program at least twice per month as they are one-year into learning the new KPREP standards. ·All teachers to use the CIITS program related to Science and Social Studies at least once bi-monthy as they going to just begin implementing the new KPREP standards in 2012-2013. ·All teachers to use clickers at least once a month. They will collaborate to plan lessons and assessments utilizing this technology.

Staff Communication Staff communicates via e-mail on a daily basis. We also have monthly staff meetings where information is shared. Staff has monthly committee meetings. One committee is called the culture and climate committee. It focuses on development of the school vision and mission statements. Part of these statements include increasing student engagement. We send out minutes which are very descriptive. The committee focuses on training staff during PD days and staff meetings to increae student engagment through technology use.

Staff Training Our school will incorporate technology-based professional development at least four times next school year.We will be using the CIITS program on a regular basis, so the PD on technology will be more frequent at the beginning of the school year. ·PD days focus on special training on innovative ideas to engage students in learning.Teacher leaders are asked to share their ideas about how to increase student engagement. Meetings are held in teacher classrooms on a rotational basis so that they can highlight technology use in their classrooms.

Sharing Innovative Ideas Teachers are asked to attend conferences statewide. Teachers attend district PD based on technology. Three teachers are currently trained on the CIITS program. ·Classes post student work related to technology on the school website and school wikispace. ·Each grade level team meets twice a week to discuss new and innovative ideas, discuss grade level standards, and interpret data.

Provide Rich Resources Digital tools help me to increase student engagement. I spend time learning new technologies and passing that learning on to teacher leaders. The teacher leaders then present it to the entire teaching staff. I have teacher leaders provide opportunities for students to use technology. (see below) Clickers are used for formative assessments and summative assessments. They are also used for Jeopardy games and flashback reviews. ·Models of student technology use are placed on the school website for parents and the school Wikispace for staff. ·Smartboards are utilized in 60% of classrooms. 100% of teachers use projectors and laptops to demonstrate technology to students and show educational videos.

Technology Policies With cyberbullying becoming a national issue, the electronic resource user agreement was recently updated. it also states that “students may not write or send abusive messages to others” as this is considered a form of harrasment. The agreement encourages the user to inform an administrator or teacher of any violations and that they may do that anonymously. The electronic resource user agreement can be found on the parent link of our school website at: http://www.jefferson.k12.ky.us/Schools/Elementary/Field/p arents.html http://www.jefferson.k12.ky.us/Schools/Elementary/Field/p arents.html
