2 Hue Another name for color!

3 Primary Colors The three basic colors of the color wheel.
Cannot be mixed, you must purchase/be given them. The three basic colors that all other colors come from. Red, blue, yellow

4 Secondary Colors Colors made by mixing two primary colors.
(2nd colors) Orange, green, purple

5 Tertiary Colors Colors made by mixing a primary and a secondary color.
Two word name Red- orange Blue-green Yellow-green

6 Tint WHITE plus a color. Always start with white first!!!!

7 Shade Color (hue) plus black
Just a little bit of black goes a looooong way!

8 Tone Hue (color) plus gray

9 Value The lightness or darkness of a color
Ex- maroon is a dark value of red

10 Intensity or Saturation
or saturation is the brightness of a color or put another way, it's the force of the color

11 Color Temperature Warm and cool colors Warm colors Cool colors
The color circle can be divided into warm and cool colors. Warm colors are vivid and energetic, and tend to advance in space. Cool colors give an impression of calm, and create a soothing impression. White, black and gray are considered to be neutral.

12 Complementary color scheme
Colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel (example: red and green). More ideas= high contrast

13 Analogous Colors 3 colors next to each other on the color wheel
More ideas: red, orange, yellow Red, red-orange, orange

14 Triad color scheme A triadic color scheme uses colors that are evenly spaced around the color wheel. Purple, orange, green

15 Monochromatic One color plus its tints and shades. Mono- one
Chromo- color
