WCCDC MWT Minority Worker Training Program BMWT Brownfields Minority Worker Training Program 5 YEAR RENEWABLE GRANT 12 week training in environmental remediation and basic construction plus additional focus on waterfront & ecological restoration target population 18 and up under or unemployed people of color living in designated brownfield areas Dallas, Kansas City training to include: environmental health & safety, life skills, basic construction, hands-on, mentoring, industry related math & writing, job placement assistance low impact development 5 YEAR RENEWABLE GRANT 12 week training in environmental remediation and basic construction target population 18-30 under or unemployed people of color Chicago, NYC, Houston, Washington DC training to include: environmental health & safety, life skills, basic construction, hands-on, mentoring, industry related math & writing, job placement assistance MWT AT A GLANCE low impact development

Training Curriculum Segmented into Three Components A. Life Skills, Construction Related Education & Professional Development B. Environmental Health & Safety Instruction & Intro to Ecological Restoration C. Construction Skills, Offsite Hands-On Experience, EJ Advocacy & Career Development Each Component runs approximately 4 weeks. Participant Evaluations occur at the end of each component. WHAT MWT CAN DO FOR PARTICIPANTS… Technical training in environmental remediation Practical hands-on experience in the industry, (Framing, Drywall, Flagging, Basic Electricity, Power & Hand Tools, Demolition) Provide an opportunity MWT Program Development Workshop

Outreach & Recruitment Be between 18 & 30 years of age * Have a HS Diploma or GED Be either unemployed or underemployed Be physically able to do the work Have an 8 th grade math & reading level Be able to pass a drug test Be available to attend Pre-Apprenticeship training full time Be committed to completing the entire program MWT Program Development Workshop Candidates to MWT Pre-Apprenticeship training must

Skills Assessment 2 MWT Program Development Workshop Ensure candidates meet academic requirements Prerequisite for tryouts participation Uses TABE Test 9 & 10 (Level D) Minimum 8.0 grade levels for: reading, math computation & applied mathematics

Try-outs 3 MWT Program Development Workshop Try-outs target number: 90 candidates 3 day competitive selection process opportunity to evaluate candidates in simulated academic and work scenarios Employs both individual & group activities Provides core information for participant selection

Graduation & Placement’s History MWT Program Development Workshop 2005 – 2006 Graduated 25 Certified Students, Placed 17. One year retention, 75% 2006 – 2007 graduated 38 Certified Students, Placed 32. Six, (6) Month retention, 82% 2007 – 2008 Enrolling 35 Students Forecasting 100% placement's
