AARHUS UNIVERSITET Master thesis information meeting Tine Bækkelund 10TH NOVEMBER 2014 ALLOCATION OF ACADEMIC SUPERVISOR ›Prepare a proposal for a thesis synopsis (1/2 page) - tentative title - tentative problem statement - tentative research approach (methods/theory) - tentative description of data basis, if relevant ›Fill in ”Form for allocation of academic supervisor” ›Submit proposal and form to the department secretaries - Deadline is 1 month before the registration deadline - Note: Deadline is June 15th if you plan to register 1st of August ›Your programme coordinator will then allocate a supervisor - You are free to make a request for a specific supervisor 6

AARHUS UNIVERSITET Master thesis information meeting Tine Bækkelund 10TH NOVEMBER 2014 THESIS REGISTRATION (= EXAM REGISTRATION) ›Prepare the thesis synopsis - tentative title - tentative problem statement - tentative research approach approx. 1 page - tentative description of data basis, if relevant - tentative outline - tentative list of litterature ›Prepare a plan for the thesis process (goals for each month) ›Fill in ”Thesis registration”. It must be signed by you and your supervisor. ›Submit thesis registration form with thesis synopsis and plan to the department secretaries before the registration deadline. 7

AARHUS UNIVERSITET Master thesis information meeting Tine Bækkelund 10TH NOVEMBER 2014 THESES PREPARED IN GROUPS, SCOPE OF THE THESIS AND ORAL DEFENCE: ›The thesis may be prepared in groups of max. 3 students ›Scope: - 1 student: 50-80 standard pages (2.200 characters, no spaces) - 2 students: 75-120 standard pages - 3 students: 100-150 standard pages ›Scope: Excl. table of contents, literature list, abstract and appendices, but incl. notes. ›Length of the abstract: Max. 2 standard pages. ›Individual oral exam: 45 min. 8
