+ Friction What is it? How does it affect things? Let’s learn about it!
2
+ Friction is… A force that pushes on an object causing it to slow down or stop. Does everything have the same friction? Does everything have the same friction?
3
+ Good Question! No it does not Rough surfaces have more friction that smooth. Hard surfaces have less friction than soft. Are there different types? Are there different types?
4
+ Yes there are! Wind friction is another friction we are not going to discuss though. We will only focus on surfaces and their friction. Ok, so what is important for me to know? Ok, so what is important for me to know?
5
+ Important things to know about friction Friction slows things down or stops them. It is a force. Hard or smooth surfaces have small friction. Soft and bumpy/rough surfaces have a lot of friction. The more the friction, the slower and shorter and object will move. Newton’s Law: An object in motion will stay in motion unless acted on by an outside force (friction).
