Psalm 51:17 – The sacrifices of God are a broken [to burst, tear] spirit, a broken & a contrite [to collapse] heart — These, O God, You will not despise. –2 Samuel 18:32 – 19:5

Joel 2:12-13 – “Now, therefore,” says the LORD, “Turn to Me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, & with mourning.” 13 So REND YOUR HEART, & not your garments; return to the LORD your God, for He is gracious & merciful, slow to anger, & of great kindness; & He relents from doing harm.

Repentance IS a rending or tearing of the heart because of sin & a pure, obedient life to Jesus Christ ensuing. –Ninevites: Matt 12:41-42; Jonah 3:10 –King David: Psalm 51
