Quality Control
This can also be referred to as QC.
It means checking during the making of a product to make sure that it is being made to the required standard.
To make sure a product is made well, you need to establish a set of quality control points for the product. These checks can include:
What are the most important parts of the product (eg the parts that must fit accurately together)?
What are the tolerances?
When do I need to make checks?
How can the parts be checked?
What equipment and/or systems can be used to assist in checking?

Quality Assurance
Quality assurance means making sure that a product is of the best quality that can be achieved.
To make sure a product has a high level of quality assurance, you must consider the following points:
Design - does the appearance of the product suggest that it has been well-designed?
Manufacture - has it been made accurately and with care?
Performance - does it do what it is supposed to do? Does it function well for a long period of time without wearing out or breaking down?
Customer satisfaction - do the users like the product? Does it look good? Does it work well? Is the cost reasonable?

Risk assessment
A risk assessment is when you look at the task you will be doing and assess the risks that could occur!
Is it a low level task – e.g. marking out or collecting your material? This would be coloured in green.
Is it a medium level task – e.g. sawing your wood by hand or using the pillar drill to drill a hole? This would be coloured in amber.
Is it a high level task – e.g. using the lathe, brazing or using the disc sander? This would be coloured in red.
At each task you need to say how you will minimise the risks to yourself and those around you.

Conformité Européenne which means that the product conforms to European standards. This is not a quality mark or a guarantee.
