Botswana - Facts Land locked – surrounded by 4 countries Total Area: 582 000 km 2 Population: 1,680,863 (2001) Diamonds remain the main export (48% - Feb 2009) Per Capita GDP: P14,246.6 (2008) Economic Growth Rate: 2.9%(2008) Inflation Rate: 11.7%(March 2009)

Organizational Structure of the CSO A dept. in MFDP Mandated through the Stats. Act (Cap 17:01) & Census Act (Cap 17:02) of the Laws of Botswana to produce official national Statistics Headed by a GS, who is responsible to the PS through SEFP The CSO consists of a head office in Gaborone and 1 regional office in Francistown.
