4 Step One: Be Realistic What is the purpose of your goal? Do you believe in the plan?

5 Step Two: DETAILS Make sure that your goal is Specific Identify what you must do to reach your goal List the actions!

6 Step Three Balance Can you measure your goal? Seek to balance the actions, don’t try to achieve too much at one time!

7 Step Four Support Seek out positive people to encourage you! Be accountable to one person…

8 Step Five Chart your course Make sure you have clear directions Alternative plans should be included

9 Step Six Celebrate ! Plan for rewards Stay focused on the positive Don’t forget.. As John Dewey says: “Arriving at one goal is the starting point to another”!!!

10 Example of an Educational Goal I will complete the requirements of Introduction to Education and pass the class with a B or better on December 16, 2010.

11 Example of a Career Goal I will complete the required training to obtain a license as an Elementary School Teacher by May 2013.

12 Example of a Personal Goal I will improve my stamina by exercising at least 30 minutes each day for one month.
