2 Working Under Two Systems State – API Academic Performance Index measures growth of student achievement. Federal – AYP Adequate Yearly Progress measures student achievement based on set proficiency levels.

3 State Accountability System Academic Performance Index State measurement of student progress Points based on the performance level of each student in ELA, Math, Science, & Social Studies Targets are based on 5% of the difference between 800 and the school’s current API Also looks at performance of significant subgroups

10 Adequate Yearly Progress What goes into the AYP? AMO 1 – 95% participation in Math & ELA AMO 2 – Proficiency in Math & ELA CST for Elementary & Middle Schools CAHSEE for High Schools Both for Districts AMO 3 – State Indicator – API AMO 4 (HS & DO) – Graduation Rate AMO 1 and 2 must be met both schoolwide and by significant subgroups.

11 Meeting Our AYP Targets 12 schools met all components of AYP. 13 schools made AYP in ELA. 29 schools made AYP in Math. All schools meeting AYP targets, except three, were Elementary

20 Program Improvement Schools receiving Title 1 funding can face the sanction of Program Improvement Schools that do not meet all AMO targets go on the “Watch List” Schools that miss the same AMO two years in a row, enter into Program Improvement To exit Program Improvement, a school must be perfect for two consecutive years

21 Moving Down The Program Improvement Path FUSD will have 3 schools advance in Program Improvement for 08-09. Of the schools receiving Title 1, 16 will go on the Watch List for failing to make AYP in ELA. 9 schools missed AYP - English Learners 7 schools missed AYP - Schoolwide & EL

22 Saying Goodbye to PI! Citrus Elementary will exit Program Improvement in 2008! Live Oak Elementary will exit Program Improvement in 2008! Date Elementary will hold at PI Year 2!

25 District Program Improvement The District will enter into PI for failure to make AYP in ELA for two consecutive years. This is not something that can be changed through data correction.
