Section 2 Background Information #1 One of the major parasitic relationships that other species have with us is through the disease called Malaria. Malaria is very common in Africa and causes humans to have fevers, chills, flu-like symptoms and weakening of the immune system (causes humans to get sick easier.)

Section 2 Background Information #2 In Malaria, a parasite called Plasmodium falciparum infects humans and enters their bloodstream through mosquitos. While inside the body, the parasite multiplies in the liver and is picked up by later mosquito bites to infect even more humans later on.
