Yosemite National Park.

Location: Yosemite Village, CA 95389

History: After the arrival of the Ahwahneechee Native Americans, thousands of years later the Europeans came in the 1800's to explore the national park. They spread the fame of the national park to the world. They had park rangers and many people taking care of Yosemite National Park. The Europeans discovered many cultures that lived in Yosemite. They also discovered that many people came and mined for fortunes of gold. The Archeologists respected these cultures and traditions and searched for traces of ancient collections. They are still taking care of our beautiful national park to this day.

Size: The size of Yosemite National Park is about 1,190 sq. miles.

Native Americans. Some Native Americans that lived in the Yosemite National Park area are Sierra Miwok, Paiute, but the Ahwahneechee Indians lived there for generations.

Geology: Many rocks are found in Yosemite National Park, for instance Plutonic rocks, Volcanic Igneous rocks, Granite, Granodiorite, Potassium, Biotite, Gabbro, etc.

Fauna: There are many animals and insects living in Yosemite National Park including bobcats, black bears, the red fox, mule deer, the spotted owl, tarantulas, and around 400 species of vertebrates.

Flora: There are several hundreds of plants and trees in Yosemite National Park, including California Black Oak, Incense Cedar, Western Azaleas, Arrowleaf Groundsel, Sierra Butterweed, Whitebark Pine etc.

Weather: The weather throughout the year in Yosemite National Park is based on the seasons, like here in Michigan. But there in the winter its snows a ton!

Environmental Concerns:
Even though Yosemite National Park is a spectacular and fabulous place , it still has some environmental issues. Some of those issues are invasive species, climate change, air quality/pollution, fires, and visitor uses.

Activities: In Yosemite National Park, couple activities you can occupy yourself with are hiking, camping, fishing, horseback riding , rock climbing, etc.
