A possessive pronoun shows ownership or possession. Hey, the remote control is not yours! But it’s my turn! They can take the place of a possessive noun. They can also act like adjectives in front of a noun.

Grammar Toolkit The possessive pronoun its is often confused with it’s, which means “it is”. Remember: a possessive pronoun never has an apostrophe. Grammar Toolkit A pronoun stands in place of a noun. Possessive pronouns show ownership or possession. Some possessive pronouns act like adjectives, by modifying nouns. Possessive pronouns do not have apostrophes. It’s means “it is” and its is a possessive pronoun. In the following sentence, the possessive pronouns are red. The victory might be yours, but the glory is mine.
