Programs normally last 4-5 years internships and co-ops are a good idea to gain experience. ABET-accredited program are college programs which employers most likely go to hire Mechanical Engineers, so it is a good Idea to get into one of these if you plan on getting a job as a Mechanical Engineer

Another skill that might be very helpful is being good with computers. To become a professional engineer, you need the following Completed ABET-accredited engineering program 4 years of work experience Must pass a state exam. Some states require engineers to continue their education to renew their license every year

Job outlook and future prospects As show from the graph from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, The estimated growth is 5% This is less then the average, of 11% The rates varies from industry to industry Mechanical engineers are needed a lot of the time in newer technology innovations Advancements in Nanotechnology might also bring a increase in jobs for Mechanical engineers
