2 1960 On May 1, 1960 the American U2 spy plane was shot down. Francis Gary Powers the was pilot for the plane. The plane was carrying a bomb. A surface to air missile brought down the plane. The plane was at 70,000 ft when shoot at.

3 1961 On April 12,1961 the soviets launched the first man in space. The ship’s name vosok 1. Yuri Gagarin was the first man in space. The ship weighed 5 tons or 100,000 lbs. Yuri was 27 years old when he went into space.

4 1962 John Kennedy was the 35 th president. John Kennedy was born in May 29 th, 1917 John Kennedy was 6 ft tall. His right leg was ¾ longer than his left leg. John Kennedy started the peace core.

5 1963 The Great Freeze started at Christmas time and lasted through march. December 25 th the first heavy snow fell and lasted for three days. After three days there was 3ft of snow. The Thames river also froze through. People fell into the ice and died a cold tragic death. In the end the great freeze ended in a big slushy mess.

8 1966 The Miura has a V12 engine. The Miura can go from 0-60 in 6.3 seconds. This car can cover a ¼ of a mile in 14.5 seconds. This car is manual transmission with a 5 gear speed.

9 1967 Packers vs. Chiefs. Green Bay won 35 to 10. Green Bays coach was Vince Lombardi. Kansas City coach was Hank Stram. The Packers named the super bowl trophy after there coach.

10 1968 Dr. King was 39 years old. Dr. King was shot by a 30-06 hunting rifle. He was pronounced dead at 7:05 on April 4 at St. Josephs hospital. Dr. King was shoot right below the jaw in the middle of the neck.

11 1969 Neil Armstrong was born in Wapakoneta, Ohio. He was born on August 5,1930. Neil Armstrong was 39 when he went to the moon. He received his pilots license before he ever had his drivers license.
