6. Bell-Bottoms Bell-bottoms were fashioned after naval uniforms bellbottoms became the fashion statement of the bohemian sector of young society in the late 1960's. They also became a prominent symbol of the wildly stylish 1970's. Made of denim, the popularity of the pants was enormous, however, they were unavailable in many parts of the country where they were seen as too much of a fashion statement.

7. TIE-DYE T-SHIRTS The origins of Tie-dye T- shirts are believed to have begun in Nigeria where women would tie cotton fabrics into knots and then dip them into dyes Popularity of the Tie-Dye T-shirt took off in the 1960s during the hippie/peace movement.

8. Nehru Jacket The Nehru Jacket was a common jacket for men in the 1960s. The two features lacking on the Jacket were Lapels and Collars.

9. Troll Dolls Troll Dolls were the second largest selling doll in the U.S. during the 60s. Another name for the doll was the Dammit Doll in honor of creator Thomas Dam.

10. Barbie Dolls In the first year on the market, 351,000 dolls were sold The first Barbie Doll was sold for $3.00

11. Skateboarding Skateboarding began in the areas surrounding California beaches This sport is still very popular today

12. Slot Cars A slot car is a miniature replica of a full-size automobile or race car which is driven on race tracks or drag strips every weekend during the spring, summer and fall.
