Our Mission We are striving for: - new approach in education - raising awareness about fair trade - one of the alternatives for enforcement of sustainable development in the global South - encourage czech public in adopting responsibility for the consequences of our consumer behavior - ecological and socially responsible approach to production, business and consumption

Basic Information Society for Fair Trade - founded in 2003 - NGO, voluntary based organization - 20 employees and 100 volunteers - accredited educational institution by Czech Ministry of Education - part of the alliance Czech Against the Poverty, founder member of czech platform Asociation for Fair Trade, member of Czech Forum of Development Cooperation

Our Activities - global development education - campaining for responsible consumption - promoting fair trade - fair trade shops NaZemi

NaZemi - 7 volunteer-based fair trade shops (both food and handicraft goods) - providing credible information about fair trade and responsible consumption - profit is used to secure co-financing of our educational projects

Responsible Consumption www.svetvnakupnimkosiku.cz = „World in the Shopping Cart“ - awareness raising about global aspects of production, business and consumption - cooperating with other national and international NGO's on projects advocating better working conditions and improvement of social and environmental consequences of production

Global Development Education - running interactive workshops for students and seminars for teachers - producing and distributing innovative educational materials - cooperating with schools and youth ecological and educational organizations - taking part in conferences and publishing articles - member of Czech working group of global education

Global Development Education Watoto - a project of development and multicultural education for kindergartens - pilot project in 2005 - was the first activity of that kind in the Czech Republic - created in cooperation with Irish NGO Trocaire

Global Development Education Global Issues in the ELT Classroom - education project for teachers of English - raising awareness on UN Millenium Development Goals - output: resource book with lesson plans

The World in your Shopping Cart - awareness raising project and education program - set of 7 interactive workshops - aims to enhance awareness about impact of our consumption patterns on people in developping countries Global Development Education

The World into all Subjects - resource book with 34 lesson plans - aims to bring global dimension into the usual school subjects (Geography, Maths, Chemistry...) - goes cross the subjects

Global Development Education PARTicipate – art and global issues - original project from RISC (England) - 6 handbooks for teachers - use the work of artists from all over the world to introduce some global problems - practical ideas how to use activities in art lessons - Artists from China, Benin, Iraq, New Zealand...

La Ngonpo - Czech – Ladakh educational project - methodological materials for teachers – we start piloting this year - aims to build partnership between students and teachers in Ladakh and in Czech Republic

Reading and Writing to Critical Thinking – course with the focus on global issues - long-term course for teachers (80 hours) - based on the RWCT methodology - follows the natural process of learning - starts this year

our context - school reform in 2007 – cross cutting themes including global topics - SFT – acreditted as educational institution - close cooperation with centres for environmental education and centres for further teacher education
