City of Toronto population: 2, 503, 281 The city of Toronto had 45% of the Greater Toronto Area’s (GTA) population in 2006, but was home to 52% of all GTA immigrants. Toronto is a city of new immigrants. Half of all immigrants to Toronto have lived in Canada for less than 15 years.
