3. P - Paraphrase  Translate the poem into your own words. You don’t need to do every single line.

4. C - Connotation  Contemplate the poem for meaning beyond the literal. Make observations about the diction and record powerful words that contribute to mood and/or tone

5. I - Imagery  Record powerful images. Sight, touch, taste, smell, sound

6. S- Symbols  Look for things that have a deeper meaning. –Dove = peace –Rose = love –Snake = evil

7. T- Tone  Observe the speaker’s/poet’s tone. Use your tone list.

8. T - Theme  After all of this thoughtful analysis, what is the theme of the poem?

9. Meter : “Stopping by Woods on Snowy Evening” Robert Frost  Whose woods these are I think I know.  His house is in the village though;  He will not see me stopping here  To watch his woods fill up with snow.
