2. Project Overview
Two generation upgrade, current technology 9 years old
Replace existing Cisco with Aruba
Aruba is new UCSF standard
Optimized AP placement / coverage
Wall to wall coverage with the exception of stairwells and elevators.
5x greater capacity

3. Migration Plan
Installation of all new access points (APs) and cabling throughout hospital prior to upgrade is in progress.
Dual Team approach:
Migration Team – Cutover from Cisco to Aruba.
Problem Resolution Team – Resolve any wireless problems related to the upgrade.
Upgrade will start in basement and move up on a floor- by-floor basis.
Special planning considerations for ORs and ICUs.

5. Proposed Schedule

Connectivity issues anticipated during the cutover on each floor.
IT staff will be on-site to resolve wireless issues during and after the migration.
IT Command Center will be in effect to coordinate efforts.

6. Testing
The following wireless devices have been tested, or will complete testing, on the Aruba network prior to upgrade:
