(w/birth date)/Driver License and Social Security Card.

Read through this entire presentation and write down any questions you have. Complete and print out the Pre-Employment Orientation Quiz located on the Human Resources web site. General Campus work hours are M-F 8:00a-5:00p Summer Campus work hours are M-Th 7:30a-6:00p Individual department hours may vary. You will figure out your work schedule with your supervisor. Overtime and work performed on holidays must be pre-approved by your supervisor: General hours overtime = working more than 8 hrs/day or more than 40 hrs/wk Summer hours overtime = more than 10 hrs/day or more than 40 hrs/wk Your supervisor must also initial next to the recorded hours worked for overtime or on holidays on your time sheet.

If you are an employee on campus and not in the Federal Work Study or Cal Works program, you are limited to working a maximum of 175 days per fiscal year (July-June). Human Resources tracks the days you work and will notify you once you have about 90 days left to work. You will get a notification each month with a summary of your days left. If you are an employee on campus, not in the Federal Work Study or Cal Works program, and you work 1,000 hours in a single fiscal year, you will be entered into the Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS). 6% will be taken out of each paycheck to contribute to this account. You will remain a CalPERS member indefinitely. HR will track your hours and notify you when your supervisor you are nearing the 1,000 hour mark. For every four (4) consecutive hours you work, you must take a 15 minute paid break. For every five (5) consecutive hours you work, you must take a 30 minute unpaid lunch break. If anyone is prohibiting you from taking these breaks, please contact Human Resources.

Computers are District property No expectation of privacy – your computer use can be reviewed or pulled at any time Use computers for District-related purposes only.

If you see something unsafe in your workspace, notify your supervisor. If your supervisor is not available, contact Human Resources If you are hurt on the job, please contact Human Resources immediately. Let Human Resources staff help you assess the situation – we may need to document the incident.

Call your Supervisor as soon as possible if you are going to be out due to illness. If you need to leave employment for an extended period of time due to pregnancy or disability, it is not paid through Cuesta. However, you can apply for state disability through the State of California. Notify your supervisor.

If you need to leave Cuesta employment, please give your supervisor at least two (2) weeks notice if you are able. Unemployment If you want to apply for unemployment, see the EDD web site for unemployment through the State of California. It is not paid through Cuesta College.

If you are applying for a loan, purchasing a car, or dealing with lenders for any other reason, direct their requests for employment verification to the Cuesta Payroll Office. If you need a copy of pay stubs with your name and the college’s name, contact the Payroll Office. If you’d like to sign up for direct deposit, visit the Payroll Office (green form located outside of the office). Direct Deposit - paycheck is automatically deposited into a savings or checking account each month, rather than being mailed out. Payroll phone: 805-546-3100, extension 3136
