1 Phases of LEARNING Acquisition - initial demonstration of skill characterized by error, hesitation (need for prompting) and inefficiency Fluency- skill is efficient and evidenced without prompting/cueing Maintenance - skill is evidenced without prompting and is characterized by few errors and fluency Generalization - skill is evidenced without prompting and with fluency in a variety of settings and with multiple examples of materials

3 Acquisition Child is unable to execute skill or evidence behavior without significant support/prompting and efforts to execute skill or evidence behavior is characterized by frequent errors and excessive time in executing the task or skill

4 Fluency Child performs task or initiates behavior with absence of prompting.

5 Maintenance Maintenance - skill is evidenced without prompting and is characterized by few errors and fluency

6 Generalization Generalization - skill is evidenced without prompting and with fluency in a variety of settings and with multiple examples of materials
