2. RULE 1

4. RULE 3
When a clause needs major and minor separations, use semicolons for major breaks and commas for minor breaks. Joni will travel to Dallas, Texas; Buffalo, New York; and Boston, Massachusetts. My siblings birthdates are September 1st, 1982; November 17th, 1984; and January 22nd, 1988.

5. Rule 4
When you have a series within a series, you change the outer commas to semi-colons. Alex traveled to Rome, Istanbul, and Cairo; visited his grandparents, cousins, and college friends; and learned new languages, tried new foods, and shopped at all the stores.
