2. Academy Sports Building The building we chose is Academy Sports. It is located in Opelika Alabama. Academy is a sporting goods store. Academy is a single floor building. The exterior wall are constructed out of CMU blocks. The roof is supported by steel joist and girders. The roof is metal decking. 1

3. Structural System In Academy, the Load travels from the roof, to the joists, to the joist girders, to a CMU wall. Once the load reaches the wall, it then travels down to the building foundation and then to the ground. 2

8. Structural Change Explanation  I made this structural change because it made the joist girders smaller. By doing so, this made them easier to work with and made the job cheaper. 8
