September 20, 2002G2E 2002 GSA Technology Forum4 GDS Goals Utilize computer industry standard, Universal Serial Bus (USB), as the base communication protocol for peripheral devices within a gaming machine. Incorporate the GSA developed B-Link Serial Protocol for Bill Valiators into the standard. Develop standardized messages (subsets) for –Printers –Coin Acceptors –Coin Hoppers –Interactive Devices Provide reference designs and test tools for ease of implementation and certification. Communicate with the regulatory and testing agencies in order to ensure that the protocol meets or exceeds jurisdictional requirements.
