Children have previously written a plan for an adventure story with a characters they have created themselves. This has been done using a story hill. They have written descriptions of their characters. They have a description of the setting. Children have had an introductory lesson to scratch.

L.O: To use your description of a setting to create a background on Scratch. Children could use their setting description to create a background on Scratch. Differentiation: Higher ability – Could use their partner’s description to create the background. This could be a form of peer assessment. (Assessing detail).

L.O: To create a Sprite character using Scratch. Children will use their character descriptions to create their Sprite. Differentiation: Same as previous lesson.

L.O: To make your character/sprite move or speak. Children use their prior learning and Scratch cards to make their character respond. Differentiation: Some children may manage to make their Sprite move and speak.

L.O: To tell your story using Scratch as an aid. Put the children into groups of 3 / 4 and get them to tell their stories to each other using Scratch. This could be filmed as a speaking and listening assessment.
