AVID Tutors 1. Take an active part in developing the academic and personal strengths of AVID students. 2. Become thoroughly grounded in AVID strategies (WICR, Socratic Method). 3. Master each stage of the tutorial and the inquiry learning process. 4. Encourage students’ development of personal pride and confidence. 5. Assist students in the successful completion of college eligibility requirements. 6. Provide academic support for students in rigorous courses. 7. Encourage students to enroll in a four-year college or university after high school graduation. 8. Serve as a role model and mentor. 2011- Tulsa Community College- Engaged Student Programming

AVID tutors are expected to be active learners, not experts. Be positive and professional at all times. Arrive on time and prepared for class. Act as a role model in behavior. Assist students in maintaining their AVID binders (with calendar, assignment sheets, Tutorial Request Forms, and daily Cornell notes in all academic classes). Actively participate in collaborative groups and tutorials. Participate in AVID field trips and motivational activities (when possible). Facilitate the tutorial learning process and implement AVID methodologies. Complete the assigned tutor training. 2011- Tulsa Community College- Engaged Student Programming

Wear appropriate attire at all times. Inform teacher in advance of absences and tardies. Become familiar with the specific routines and expectations of each AVID teacher’s classrooms. Adhere to district/site policies and procedures. 2011- Tulsa Community College- Engaged Student Programming
