Able to Complete Four-Year University Requirements Hard worker Collaborative in Nature Positive Attitude Possess Desire and Determination In addition to the academic requirements, there are the traits of an AVID student which are not quite as easy to identify on paper. This is why the teacher recommendations and student interview are critical to the selection process.

14 Lessons Learned Don’t try to “save” students with behavior and attendance problems. Don’t let students be simply placed into the AVID class. Don’t let parents pressure the coordinator, counselors, or administrator to accept students into the program.
