4  Helped the abolitionist movement by making many Northerners realize the reality of slavery and the cruelty of the Fugitive Slave Law  Lead to many perceived stereotypes of blacks throughout America  Outraged Southerners and slave owners, many claimed the novel to be criminal and slanderous

5  Stowe was born in1811 and died in1896  She had 3 sisters and 5 brothers  She married to Calvin Ellis Stowe in 1836  She first encountered slaver in Cincinnati in 1832  Had a servant girl who she thought was a freed slave until her previous owner started hunting for her, her brother drove the girl to a friend’s house overnight to hide
