10. Define by Structure Tell how something is organized or put together. Ex. You can define a car by explaining the engine wheels, seats, etc. Some topics are not easily defined by structure Ex. How can you define platonic love or assertiveness into parts?

11. Define by Analysis Compare the term to other members of its class and then illustrate the differences The differences that are special characteristics that make it stand out Ex. Compare a Siberian husky to other dogs

12. Define by what it’s not This distinction can clarify a definition and help them better understand Ex. Platonic love is the opposite of hate Ex. Assertiveness is the opposite of submission

13. Support With Evidence Use understandable facts, examples, or anecdotes Ask yourself which will help the reader understand the best
