Motivation Promote the importance of a positive attitude Urge students to view setbacks as opportunities Help students identify factors that contribute to or detract from their success Create caring relationships with students Inform students about academic resources and instruct them to seek help when needed

Helping Students get on track Set short and long-term goals to increase motivation and focus Assist students in articulating strengths and needs Select appropriate courses that considers their skill level and other obligations Promote faculty office hours and urge students to build relationships with faculty outside of class Encourage students to purchase books early and begin studying immediately and daily Study all class materials and take good notes
