Water project proposal Slavsk Rayon - “Polder” area, water system needs requires improvement - larger parts no longer in use due to water problems - Russian assessment: large investments needed - Dutch approach: integrated plan involving assessment for agriculture, nature and other functions - if possible: introduction of a “self-governing” water (management) board, to be responsible for maintenance - required: transfer of responsibility and (co-)finance from RF - first: more information on situation needed, local partners

Example 3 from NL: Green Valley - Local cooperation initiative, partners from government, business, NGOs and education (university, schools) - Historic/landscape background: castles, (national) parks - Tourism and living quality - Knowledge centre on “green” (and “blue”) economy - projects on local level: “waterpark”, “green in the street” - Larger projects: training courses, etc. - Future: one-stop shop on “Green (Valley)” Knowledge - Approach; example also for regions in Russia?
