1 Assessment Task: Educational Technology E. Haipinge 13 May 2015 ICT Policy Critique Paper

2 Task Description You have familiarised yourself with the ICT Policy for Education, and you have also experienced the situation at schools on the ground. Write a 3-5 page critique paper critically examining the implementation process of the ICT Policy in Namibian Schools. The paper should do the following: 1.Describe aspects of the ICT Policy (e.g. overall goals; specific educational goals; development levels suited to schools or Faculty of Education at Unam) 2.Discuss the ICT situation at schools regarding access, ICT literacy and ICT integration in teaching and learning 3.Recommend ideas to change or improve the situation

3 Title of the Paper – follow APA Convention with running head Introduction: explaining the focus of the paper, the key questions or issues to be addressed Body: should be divided in key sections o E.g. Goals of the ICT Policy for Education/ Development Levels of the ICT Policy; Status of ICTs at Observed Schools (ICT Literacy of Teachers, Learners, School Leaders; Attitude of Towards ICTs) o Level of ICT Policy Implementation Recommendations: How Challenges observed can be addressed Conclusion: What can be concluded about potential to achieve the goals of the policy, use of ICT at schools; Own reflection on the task References: Documents consulted in the process of writing the essay Suggested Structure of Paper

4 Potential Areas of Focus 1.Teacher Use and integration of technology in the classroom, 2.Student learning and technology skills/standards; 3.Government commitment and teacher preparation to use ICT 4.Professional development and teacher support to use ICT 5.Teachers’ ethical; academic, instructional uses of ICTs 6.ICT Policy goals realization in practice 7.ICT development levels for schools & other education institutions

10 Procedure for submitting the critique paper 1.Use Word 2.Follow the structure on slide 3 3.Follow APA referencing rules strictly (Find an APA guide on Portfolio Community in the Group files) 4.Send to email: ehaipinge@gmail.comehaipinge@gmail.com 5.Also upload a version on your Portfolio by following the guide on the next slide (slide 11) 6.Once graded and returned, upload the graded version on your portfolio again. Then write a reflection journal on it. Post the same reflection on your Wordpress Blog
