Changing Mixed numbers to Improper Fractions

Definition: An improper fraction is a fraction that has a numerator equal to or greater than the denominator.

Example: 2/2 or 3/2 or 4/2 or 5/2 and ect.

Change 1 and ½ to an improper fraction!

To change 1 and ½ to an improper fraction multiply the denominator “2” by the whole number “1” and add the “1” in ½.

Example: 1 x 2 + 1 placed over 2

Example continued: the product of 1 x 2 = 2 + 1 = 3 over 2 or 3/2

Change 3 and ½ to an improper fraction!

Change 10 and ½ to an improper fraction!
